HopiMesa

今度は来た道を少し戻って、この旅で一番楽しみにしていたホピメサへと向かった。（ホピメサには、ホピ族という、インディアンの中でももっとも古い部族といわれている人々が住んでいる。個人的にも絶対に会いたかった部族のひとつで、そこに行く事を楽しみにしていた。）ホピメサに着いたのは夜１０時ぐらい…この時季のアリゾナは、夜８時くらいまで太陽が出ているのでまだ夕方かなと思っているとあっという間に１０時くらいになっている。 It faced Hopimesa to which it looked forward most in this travel because it returned a little this time on the coming road. そこでこの日はホピ族が経営してるモーテルに泊まることにした。夕食は少し高かったが、ま〜ここらへんは少しリッチに行こうと考え、モーテルのレストランでとった。ちなみにこのとき食べた料理は、ホピ族の家庭料理である牛肉と豆のスープ、青唐辛子をゆでたもの、そしてコーンとパン。牛肉と豆のスープなのに豆しか入っていない？おかしいな〜と思ってスプーンで具をひろってみると・・・あった、挽肉が５〜６つぶ、何かリッチになるつもりが逆にわびしくなってしまった（笑）この日はそのまま部屋に戻った。 Then, it decided to stay at the motel that the hopi managed on this day. ２度目の訪問で ルーベンに出会う

モーテル内は禁煙だったので外で煙草を吸っていた。気付くと、部屋の周りに数十匹のスカラベ（ふんころがし）がうごめいていた。気持ち悪いので、足で部屋の入り口から遠ざけ、煙草を吸うのを途中で止めて部屋に入り、三人で次の目的地へ向かうルートを話し合い、この日は少し遅くにベットに入った。 In the motel, it smoked outside because it was no smoking. さあ、いよいよホピメサを探険だぁ！まず行ったのはモーテルの隣にあったホピ博物館。ここには、ホピのいろいろな歴史を記した資料とかが置いてある。最初の目的でもあったホピジュエリーもたくさん飾ってある。ここではバックルパーツを買い、周りの民家をすこし散歩してから隣の部落（２メサ）へと車で移動。 Now it is an exploration of Hopimesa more and more. 卓越した技術の デザインの数々

２メサでは、Ｂ君が会いたがっていたホピジュエリーのアーティスト、ルーベンが開いているショップを訪ねたのだが、残念ながら留守だったので、その近所にあった別のジュエリーショップに立ち寄り、そこで少しアクセサリーと民芸品を買った。その足でさらに３メサへと移動した。そこでは、ホピの中でも有名なデザイナーの作品を多く扱っているお店があり、ルーベンの造った作品もその中に並んでいた。その作品は本業ジュエリーアーティストである僕、もぜひルーベンに会ってみたくなるほどレベルの高い作品が並んでいた。ここでも買い物を少しして、いよいよ今度はナバホ族の聖地、ウィンドウロックへと車を走らせることにした。 It stopped by another jewelry shop that was in the vicinity, and, then, accessories and folkcraft a little were bought though it called at the shop that was opening the artist and Luben of Hopijuere that B had wanted to meet in two mesas because it was to our regret absent.
